Perhaps My favorite song of any genre of any era. Rarely does a piece of music hit every nerve -- muscial, spritiual, intellectual, physical. When I hear this song I feel it, in every part of Me. Yes, I know this is a shortened version (I assume at the behest of MTV), but the live versions don't do it for Me the same way.

I'm a big TH fan, and this is one of thier best works. And the lyrics keep haunting me, even 20 years after they wrote it.

Me too, Tom.
Give Tom a hat tip for pointing me to this post.
I believe this song has a universal appeal for those who seek out a meaning for their existence above and beyond the revelations of textbooks and conventional wisdom.
The symbolism of water in the lyrics has fascinated me. The best I can surmise is that it represents both oppression (drowning from water above) and hope (quenching thirst from a well water below, yet unfound).
